Equally comfortable in the entertainment and sports worlds, Frankens' current producing credits include Sundance Alumnist Geoffrey Pepos' "The Violent Kind" starring Kirk Harris (Intoxicating, Hard Luck), John Savage (Carnivale, The Deer Hunter), and Irina Bjorklund (currently in post) and Miguel Necoechea's (Innocent Voices) upcoming Mexico City lensed "Chamaco". Franken has worked over twenty-five years in the sports world running a sports talent and marketing firm - World Class Sports. He has done deals for a host of celebrity athletes including Magic Johnson, George Foreman and Steve Young. The agengy has placed talent in over 5,000 TV commercials, appearances, print ads, and speaking engagements. More than any agency in Los Angeles. He has additionally been the Co-Meet Director of the Sunkist, Michelob, Pepsi, Kinney and Foot Locker Invitational Track Meets. As a publicist Don has handled a myriad of accounts including the handling of the nationwide theatrical releases of several independent films. He partnered with RF Binder to pitch, win, and service the account to help launch Splenda sweetener in the United States. Other interest credits include Co-Director of public relations and special events campaign for the sports media for the Academy Award winning film "Chariots of Fire". Franken is as well the founder and executive director of The Method Fest Film Festival, one of the fastest growing independent film festivals in the country. It is the only festival in the country to honor the actor. Some of the festivals honorees included Jeff Bridges, Naomi Watts, Dennis Hopper, Mark Rydell and Martin Landau. |
