Mark R. David

Mark David's first two feature films have sparked controversy and shown the growing talent of this young multi-talented filmmaker. In a relatively short career, David has directed two feature films, been the cinematographer of eight, composed seven, co-written one, and produced several.

His recent sophomore film "Intoxicating" is currently in theatrical release in markets in the United States. The film opened on three screens in Los Angeles and has played dates with the Regal, AMC and Loews Theatre chains. The film starred Kirk Harris (Intoxicating, My Sweet Killer), John Savage (The Deer Hunter, Message in a Bottle) and Academy Award Nominee Eric Roberts (Runaway Train, Star 80). Among many good reviews during its theatrical release, Steve Devadanam of the Houston Press wrote "Featuring hot scenes, and a hot soundtrack, Intoxicating could put David on the moviemaking map". The film premiered at Cannes and has gone on to sell fifteen foreign territories including Germany, Australia, Italy and Canada. Along with helming the picture, David co-wrote the story, served as the film's Director of Photography, co-composed, co-edited and produced it.

David made his feature film directorial debut with the Southern drama "Sweet Thing" which received accolades at film festivals across the globe prior to its release. Moviemaker Magazine called David "Destined for Greatness". As well, David served as the co-director of photography, co-wrote, co-composed and produced the film. A composer of note, David has scored films and written songs that have been featured on the Emmy-winning "The Shield", Michael Rymer's "Allie & Me" and the DVD release of "Underworld."

Born and reared in Houston, Texas, the son of Egyptian parents, a surgeon and homemaker, David grew up immersed in the Austin music scene. After spending seven years attending various colleges and universities, including a stint studying acting at NYU, he began acquiring his filmmaking skills, first through directing music videos, and later, working as a cinematographer.
