Multi-talented Ron Gilbert brings his varied experience as a international film consultant, veteran character actor and producer to Rogue Arts. Ron is the head of acquisitions for Rogue Art's growing distribution efforts. Ron is currently a series regular on the new Fox network MyNetwork TV hit show "Desire". As well, he recently co-starred in Geoffrey Pepos' "The Violent Kind". As an international film consultant Ron has worked closely with foreign consulates in Los Angeles and San Francisco helping advise for film festivals and distribution. At IFP/West he headed the feature film program when Quentin Tarentino, Robert Rodriquez and Bryan Singer were just beginning their careers. While there he produced evenings with Robert Altman and Steven Frears, among others. He has served as an advisor or on the jury with The Method Fest Film Festival, Made In Germany Film Festival, American Scandinavian Film Festival, Bavarian Short Film Festival and the Newport Beach Film Festival. Ron began his acting studies at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in his hometown of New York city. Thereafter he studied with Lee Strasberg at Carnegie Hall Studios. He was an observer at the Actor's Studio in the heyday of the 60's when Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro were raw talents. He traveled all over the country doing summer stock, dinner theatre and star packages. He now is a lifetime member of the Actor's Studio and has taught the craft of acting at The Lee Strasberg Theater Institute. Ron has appeared in numerous feature films and MOW's including "The Usual Suspects", "Lansky", "Time Cop II" and "Hard Luck". He was hand picked by Brian Singer to play Dan Meisthauser the relentless Justice Department investigator who had been pursuing Keyser Sose for over 15 years until Chazz Palmintieri, his real life buddy, released him again before waiting for the fax. He began his feature film career being chosen to be the tall usher in "The Godfather". As well, Ron recently was one of the producers of Rogue Arts current theatrical release "Intoxicating" starring Kirk Harris, John Savage and Eric Roberts. The film has already been sold to fifteen foreign territories after making its international premiere at Cannes Film Market. Territories include Germany, Italy, Australia and Canada. Ron appears frequently as a guest star on television, most recently on NYPD Blue. Early in his career he guest starred on such hits as The Rockford Files, Lou Grant and the pilot for Spiderman. Additionally, Ron went to Mexico and co-wrote and starred in a Telenovella for Televisa playing the rags to riches Wily. The series still plays worldwide. As a journalist Ron has written for Bay Cites News, the Healthline Column for the Thin Blue Line. He was a lecturer for The Pritikin Longevity Center and has been very involved in Muscle Beach in Venice, California. After graduating from CCNY, Ron served in the US Army where he was the heavyweight boxing champion at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. |
