Filmmaker Vernon Mortensen has led an amazing life. The son of Christian Missionaries, he has traveled all over the world. In addition to being a filmmaker, he served as a commando in the US Navy's elite Special Boat Teams and has also worked as an engineer, a photographer, a bodyguard, an emergency medical technician, a private investigator, a librarian and as a substitute teacher for the inner-city schools of the LA Unified School District.

As a writer, Vernon has written screenplays, short stories, plays, novels and essays in a variety of genres and subjects. As a filmmaker, Vernon has written and directed seven films, several of which have been exhibited at film festivals and have been extremely well received by audiences around the world.

Vernon has a Master's degree in Professional Writing (Screenwriting) from the University of Southern California, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Directing from the world renowned Art Center College of Design and a Bachelor of Science from New York State's Excelsior College. While at USC, Vernon was awarded the prestigious Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences Writer's Fellowship and was also was selected for a highly coveted Director's Internship at LA's classical repertory theater, A Noise Within, under celebrated stage director, Sabin Epstein.
